Neumeister Sauvignon Blanc Alte Reben Bio 2022

Neumeister Sauvignon Blanc Alte Reben Bio 2022 is an organically produced Sauvignon Blanc from Austria’s Steiermark, made from old vines. Its “Alte Reben” designation points to the age of the vines, while the detailed notes supplied for an earlier vintage suggest a more restrained, mineral-driven style than overtly tropical Sauvignon Blanc.

Tasting Notes
The tasting note provided is for the 2015 vintage, so it should not be read as a direct description of the 2022. That earlier wine was described as having a cool, restrained bouquet of yellow fruit, herbs and delicate floral notes, with smoky, yeasty and mineral nuances. On the palate it was firm and concentrated, with fine acidity, a chalky, saline impression and a long finish. The note judged it very youthful and recommended further ageing; the 2022’s development may differ.

Food & Serving
Try it with grilled fish, shellfish, goat’s cheese or asparagus, where its freshness and mineral character can complement the food. Serve lightly chilled, around 10–12°C. If opening the 2022 young, a short time in a decanter may help it open up; taste first, as the ideal approach depends on how expressive the bottle is.
