Description
Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2007 Magnum is a benchmark Rhône red with the kind of depth, structure, and character that has made the estate famous for generations. Made from a traditional blend dominated by Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah, and Cinsault, it combines power with remarkable finesse, while the magnum format offers especially graceful aging and development. With roots dating back to 1549, Beaucastel remains one of the most storied names in Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby color with youthful concentration and an inviting core of ripe fruit. The nose is layered and expressive, offering blackcurrant, dark cherry, dried herbs, pepper, leather, and subtle earthy spice, unfolding further with time in the glass.
The palate is full-bodied and richly textured, with ripe dark fruit framed by notes of black pepper, Provençal herbs, a touch of cocoa, and savory complexity. The finish is long, elegant, and persistent, with enough tannic structure and freshness to support further cellaring. In magnum, it is particularly well suited to extended aging and will continue to evolve beautifully over many years.
Production
Château de Beaucastel’s vineyards in Châteauneuf-du-Pape are known for their distinctive terroir, marked by rolled pebbles, clay, and the warm, sun-drenched climate of the southern Rhône. The estate is recognized for its commitment to traditional viticulture and careful harvesting, with each grape variety picked at optimal ripeness to preserve balance and character. Vinification follows a classic approach designed to highlight the natural complexity of the blend and the individuality of each parcel before maturation.
Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with rich, flavorful dishes such as braised lamb, grilled ribeye, game, or rosemary-roasted meats. It is also an excellent match for a well-chosen cheese board with aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for 1–2 hours if drinking now to allow the aromas and structure to open fully.
