Weiser-Künstler’s Enkircher Ellergrub Kabinett is a classic Mosel Riesling with a distinctly terroir-driven character, sourced from old vines rooted in some of the region’s poorest slate soils. Elegant, finely fruited and naturally sweet, it captures the charm of traditional Kabinett wine in a beautifully precise style.

Tasting Notes
The wine shows a light, bright straw colour with a delicate shimmer in the glass. On the nose, expect flinty minerality, spice and a vivid sense of place, with the bouquet gradually opening to warmer fruit tones. On the palate, the wine combines apple and pear notes with a subtle hint of exotic sweetness, wrapped in a moderately creamy texture and an impressive, ripe fruit core. The acidity is present but supple, giving the wine energy, balance and a gentle grip. The finish is fine, mineral and persistent, and while already expressive, it should continue to gain nuance over the coming years.

Production
The grapes come from Enkircher Ellergrub, a steep Mosel site known for its slate-rich, nutrient-poor soils and very old vines, some approaching a century in age. These conditions naturally limit yields and encourage concentration, while the vineyard’s cool climate preserves the freshness and delicate aromatic profile for which Mosel Riesling is famous. As a biodynamic-organic style wine, the vinification aims to respect the fruit and the site, allowing the vineyard character to remain at the forefront.

Food & Serving
This Kabinett pairs especially well with spicy Asian dishes, roast pork, salty cheeses, and classic German fare such as pork with apple or light sausages. Serve well chilled at around 8-10°C to highlight its freshness and precision. Decanting is generally not necessary, but a little air in the glass can help the wine open up beautifully.
