Description

Weingut Pichler-Krutzler’s Grüner Veltliner Ried Klostersatz comes from a historic Wachau vineyard once tended by monks. The site’s deep gravel and sandy soils near Dürnstein are known for giving Grüner Veltliner a finely textured, mineral character.

Tasting Notes
The tasting note provided is for the 2018 vintage, so it should be treated as a stylistic reference rather than a description of the 2025 wine. That vintage showed aromas of hay, dried herbs, mace, white pepper and clove, opening with air to yellow stone fruit and ripe apple. Its palate was described as elegant and mineral, with a juicy, spicy finish and Grüner Veltliner’s characteristic peppery note.

Production
Ried Loibner Klostersatz lies near the Danube bend at Dürnstein, where deep gravel and sand contribute to the wine’s mineral profile. Specific information about the 2025 harvest, vineyard work and vinification has not been provided.

Food & Serving
Try it with freshwater fish, roast poultry, seasonal vegetables or mild Alpine cheeses. Serve lightly chilled, around 8–10°C. Decanting is not usually necessary, though a few minutes in the glass can allow the wine’s aromas to open.

Producer
Weingut Pichler-Krutzler is based in Dürnstein in the Wachau, a region celebrated for distinctive white wines shaped by its varied vineyard sites. The estate is associated with the work of Elisabeth Pichler and Erich Krutzler, whose wines focus on expressing the character of their individual origins.
