Weingut Ökonomierat Rebholz Weißer Burgunder Mandelberg Großes Gewächs 2024 is a prestigious dry Pinot Blanc from the VDP.Grosse Lage Mandelberg in Birkweiler, one of the Pfalz’s finest sites. Combining restrained winemaking with limestone-driven terroir, it offers the elegance, depth and mineral character expected of a Großes Gewächs, with excellent potential for bottle ageing.

Tasting Notes
The wine shows a bright, pale-golden appearance. Its expressive nose is shaped by ripe yellow fruit, with notes of pear, papaya and pineapple complemented by subtle mineral nuances. On the palate, it is refined and concentrated, balancing generous fruit with lively freshness, a silky texture and a long, stony finish. Its structure and mineral backbone make it enjoyable in its youth, while further complexity should develop with several years in bottle.

Production
The grapes come from the sheltered, east-facing Mandelberg site in Birkweiler, where lean, fossil-rich Muschelkalk soils allow the vines to root deeply into rock formations formed around 240 million years ago. The grapes are selectively hand-harvested before being crushed and left to macerate in a cool environment for approximately 24 hours. Following gentle pressing, fermentation and maturation take place reductively in stainless-steel tanks, preserving the wine’s freshness, purity and precise mineral character.

Food & Serving
Serve lightly chilled at approximately 10–12°C. This Pinot Blanc is an excellent match for roasted or grilled fish, shellfish, poultry, veal and refined vegetable dishes, particularly asparagus, fennel or creamy preparations. It can be enjoyed immediately for its freshness, though a short decant or time in a large Burgundy glass may help reveal its depth; older bottles generally benefit from careful decanting if sediment has formed.
