Made from 100% Grüner Veltliner from the Alte Point vineyard in Mautern, it captures the elegance and depth that make Smaragd wines the benchmark of Austria’s most celebrated wine region.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a golden hue with silvery-green reflections. The nose opens with ripe pear, yellow apple, honeydew melon, citrus and white flowers, lifted by fresh herbs, fennel and the variety’s signature white-pepper spice. The palate is rich and concentrated yet finely balanced, with layers of stone fruit, lively acidity and a clear mineral core. Long lees aging adds texture and depth without sacrificing freshness, giving the wine excellent aging potential and the structure to develop beautifully over the coming years.

Production
Sourced from Alte Point, a prized Wachau vineyard near Mautern, the wine reflects the region’s steep terraces, stony soils and loess-rich sections that lend both power and finesse. Grapes are harvested with a focus on optimal ripeness, and vinification is carried out with purity in mind, typically in stainless steel to preserve freshness, aromatic precision and terroir expression. Extended lees contact adds complexity and a supple mouthfeel.

Food & Serving
This is a highly versatile food wine and pairs especially well with roast poultry, veal, pork, rich fish dishes, asparagus, schnitzel and Asian cuisine with gentle spice. Serve chilled, ideally around 10–12°C, and consider decanting briefly if you want to open up the wine’s aromatic complexity.
