Weingut Hiedler’s Langenloiser Riesling Urgestein 2023 is a striking, mineral-driven white from the heart of Kamptal, offering a pure expression of Riesling grown on steep, historic sites north of Langenlois. Hand-harvested and crafted with a restrained, low-intervention approach, it captures the freshness and precision that have made Austrian Riesling a favorite among sommeliers worldwide.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright, pale straw color with a lively sheen. The nose opens with mirabelle, lemon, nectarine, and a delicate hint of green tea, giving the wine a lifted, elegant aromatic profile. On the palate, it is crisp and focused, with flavors of peach, mandarin, and citrus carried by vibrant acidity and a subtle saline minerality. The finish is clean and refreshing, and while delicious now, it has the structure to age gracefully for 3–5 years, gaining extra depth and complexity over time.

Production
The grapes come from steep vineyards north of the historic town of Langenlois, in Kamptal, where the stony, primary rock soils lend the wine its signature mineral character. The challenging slopes require hand harvesting, which took place in late September for this vintage. After destemming and pressing, the must was handled with minimal sulfur and fermented and matured in stainless steel to preserve purity, freshness, and site expression.

Food & Serving
This Riesling is a natural match for fresh seafood, sushi, grilled prawns, Asian dishes with a touch of spice, and light poultry or vegetable-based plates. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C to keep the wine vibrant and expressive; decanting is not necessary.
