Weingut Hiedler’s Gaisberg 1 ÖWT Reserve Riesling 2023 is a beautifully crafted Austrian white from one of Kamptal’s most respected single vineyards. Gaisberg’s cooler microclimate and excellent soils have long made it an outstanding site for Riesling, officially recognised at Erste Lage / 1er cru level.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Riesling shows the kind of purity and precision that fans of the grape love: vibrant, fresh, and clearly mineral-driven. The nose opens with ripe mango, peach, lemon, mandarin, rosemary, and hibiscus, giving it both generosity and lift. On the palate, it is juicy and full-bodied, with mature citrus fruit at the centre and a striking saline-mineral backbone. It already offers plenty of immediate pleasure, but it has the balance and structure to develop beautifully with time in bottle.

Production
The grapes were hand-harvested at the end of October, then destemmed before pressing. Fermentation took place in stainless steel, as did maturation, with lees contact adding texture and depth while preserving the wine’s clean, expressive character. Gaisberg’s favourable terroir and mild microclimate are key to the wine’s finesse and ripeness.

Food & Serving
This Riesling is an excellent match for refined seafood dishes, sushi, roast poultry, or lightly spiced Asian cuisine, where its acidity and mineral drive can shine. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C; decanting is not necessary, though a little air can help open it up if enjoyed young.
