Rooted in the historic village of Nierstein in Rheinhessen, Weingut Fritz Ekkehard Huff is now guided by third-generation winemakers Christine and Jeremy Huff. Their Orbel Auslese Riesling 2023 showcases the finesse, mineral drive, and precision that have made this part of Germany so highly regarded for expressive Riesling.

Tasting Notes
Pale gold in the glass, this Auslese offers a refined and inviting nose of candied citrus, fresh stone fruit, and subtle herbal notes. On the palate it is bright, juicy, and delicately sweet, with vibrant acidity that gives the wine remarkable balance, depth, and structure. The sweetness is beautifully countered by freshness and minerality, leading to a long, harmonious finish. Enjoy now for its youthful energy, or cellar it to allow even greater complexity to unfold over time.

Production
The wine is made from hand-selected Riesling grapes affected by noble rot (Botrytis cinerea), with healthy and botrytised fruit separated already during harvest. This careful selection allows the winery to preserve purity, concentration, and balance while emphasizing the distinctive terroir character of Nierstein’s soils and the Huff estate’s precision-driven approach to winemaking.

Food & Serving
Ideal with foie gras, blue cheese, and fruit tarts, this Auslese also shines beautifully on its own as an elegant after-dinner glass. Serve well chilled, around 8–10°C, and decanting is generally not necessary unless you wish to open up an older bottle.
