Description

Weingut Eymann Cuvée No. 418 Réserve Extra Brut is a biodynamic German sparkling wine made by traditional bottle fermentation, with a blend drawn from the Burgundy grape family. Vincent Eymann’s carefully layered Sekts have earned the estate a place among Germany’s leading sparkling-wine producers.

Tasting Notes
The nose is lightly yeasty, with delicate notes of pale yellow fruit. The wine is Extra Brut, with just 1.6 g/l residual sugar balanced by 6.6 g/l acidity. Further details on its appearance, palate and ageing potential are not available.

Production
The blend is 62% Pinot Noir pressed as a white wine and 38% Chardonnay. Its principal base wine is from 2018, complemented by reserve wines from 2015, 2016 and 2017. The biodynamically farmed base wines fermented spontaneously in small oak casks and spent a year on the lees. After bottling for its second fermentation, the Sekt aged for five years on the lees before disgorgement in September 2024 and release with a modest dosage.

Food & Serving
Serve well chilled, around 8–10°C, as an aperitif or alongside oysters, shellfish, smoked fish and other delicate seafood. Decanting is not necessary; pour gently into sparkling-wine glasses to preserve its bubbles.

Producer
Weingut Eymann is based in Germany’s Pfalz region. Vincent Eymann is recognised among the country’s leading Sekt producers, known for elaborate sparkling wines made by traditional bottle fermentation. The estate’s biodynamic approach is reflected in the base wines for this cuvée.

Do you like grower champagne but are you fed up with the increasing prices? This is exactly what you need. 62% Pinot Noir, 38% Chardonnay, spontaneously fermented in wooden barrels. Traditional bottle fermentation. 60 months on the lees. No wonder James Suckling gave it 97 points.

Vintage: Based on 2018 with reserve wines from 2015, 2016, and 2017
