Emrich-Schönleber’s 2022 Auf der Ley Grosses Gewächs is a finely detailed Nahe Riesling from a distinctive parcel, bottled separately for its cool, singular character. Offered as a VDP.Nahe auction wine in Bad Kreuznach, it combines the site’s old vines and slate-and-quartzite soils with the precision expected of a Grosses Gewächs.

Tasting Notes
Pale and bright in the glass, it opens with delicate citrus aromas and a subtle smoky, mineral note. The palate is poised and finely textured, with inviting citrus fruit, pronounced minerality and a lively, gripping acidity.

Production
Some of the estate’s oldest Riesling vines grow in the Auf der Ley parcel on blue slate and quartzite. The wine is bottled separately because of the site’s distinctive cool, fine-boned character and is presented at the VDP.Nahe auction in Bad Kreuznach. Harvesting and vinification details have not been provided.

Food & Serving
Its citrus brightness and firm acidity make it a natural match for shellfish, simply prepared fish or poultry, and dishes with fresh herbs. Serve lightly chilled, around 10–12°C. A brief decant can help the wine open, though it can also be enjoyed slowly in the glass.
