Wayfarer Chardonnay The Estate 2022 is a beautifully expressive Sonoma Coast Chardonnay that easily recalls fine Meursault in style, while remaining unmistakably Californian at heart. Crafted at the acclaimed Wayfarer Vineyard under winemaker Todd Kohn and owner Jayson Pahlmeyer, it combines coastal freshness, generous texture, and striking precision. Produced in very limited quantities, it’s the kind of bottle that rewards attention and collects admirers fast.

Tasting Notes
Pale gold in the glass, it opens with an alluring aromatic mix of citrus butterscotch, lime zest, mango, orange blossom, elderflower, and a touch of honey. The bouquet is layered and polished, showing both freshness and richness in equal measure. On the palate, it delivers pear, green apple, orange marmalade, butter, and toasted almond notes, wrapped in a creamy, supple texture from full malolactic fermentation and time in French oak. The oak is present but well integrated, adding depth rather than weight. This is a Chardonnay with excellent balance and impressive aging potential, and it should develop beautifully over the next 8–9 years.

Production
The Estate Chardonnay comes from Wayfarer Vineyard on the Sonoma Coast, where cool coastal conditions help preserve acidity and build aromatic complexity. The fruit is crafted with a classic, hands-on approach and fermented before undergoing full malolactic conversion. It then matured for 15 months in French oak barrels, 65% of which were new, giving the wine its signature depth, spice, and creamy structure.

Food & Serving
This Chardonnay is a superb match for rich seafood, lobster with butter sauce, roast chicken, creamy pasta, or dishes with mushrooms and toasted nuts. Serve it slightly chilled at around 10–12°C.
