Description
Veuve Clicquot Réserve Brut is a refined expression of the house style: vibrant, structured, and unmistakably Champagne. Crafted for elegance and consistency, it showcases the signature blend of freshness, depth, and fine mousse that has made Veuve Clicquot one of the region’s most celebrated names since the early 19th century.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a bright golden hue with a persistent stream of fine bubbles. The nose is expressive and balanced, with notes of ripe orchard fruit, citrus, white flowers, and subtle brioche or biscuit from time on lees.
On the palate, it is lively and precise, combining crisp acidity with a creamy texture and a mineral backbone. Flavors of lemon zest, green apple, pear, and toasted pastry unfold in a polished, dry finish. While enjoyable now for its freshness and harmony, it also has the structure to develop gracefully over the next few years.
Production
Sourced from Champagne’s chalk-rich terroirs, the wine benefits from the region’s cool climate and well-drained soils, which help preserve freshness and finesse. As a Réserve Brut, it is typically built from a carefully selected blend designed to maintain house consistency, with grapes harvested by hand and vinified separately to preserve each component’s character. The final wine is aged on lees to enhance complexity and texture before release.
Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at 8–10°C to fully appreciate its brightness and aromatic detail. It pairs beautifully with oysters, shellfish, sushi, light poultry dishes, creamy soft cheeses, and elegant canapés; decanting is not recommended for Champagne, though a few minutes in the glass will help it open up.
Producer
Veuve Clicquot is one of Champagne’s most iconic houses, founded in 1772 and later transformed by Madame Clicquot, a visionary who helped shape modern Champagne production. The house is renowned for its distinctive style, innovation, and quality, and it remains a benchmark producer in the region with a strong global reputation for excellence.
