Veramonte, Ritual Chardonnay Supertuga Block, 2019

Veramonte’s Ritual Chardonnay Supertuga Block is a standout single-parcel wine from Casablanca Valley, shaped by cool coastal breezes and a site that naturally delivers tension, depth, and precision. Crafted in a Burgundian style with whole-bunch pressing and élevage in French oak, it combines expressive fruit, mineral freshness, and elegant spice in a way that feels both refined and distinctive.

Tasting Notes
Pale to medium lemon-gold in the glass, this Chardonnay opens with a highly expressive nose of ripe stone fruit, citrus peel, and white flowers, lifted by a clear mineral edge and subtle oak spice. On the palate it is intense and full-bodied, with creamy texture, generous fruit concentration, and a vibrant line of freshness that keeps everything in balance. The oak influence is present but well integrated, adding depth rather than dominance, while the granite-and-clay terroir brings a lively, almost salty minerality to the finish. This is a wine with excellent structure and the potential to develop further complexity over the next several years.

Production
Supertuga Block comes from a single parcel in the lower part of Casablanca Valley, just under 30 km from the Pacific coast, where cool winds help preserve acidity and slow ripening. The soils are made up of granite gravel and clay, creating a site with excellent drainage and natural concentration. The grapes are harvested by hand, pressed as whole clusters, and then fermented and aged for 14 months in 400-liter oak barrels, 18% of which are new.

Food & Serving
This Chardonnay pairs beautifully with roast chicken, seared scallops, lobster, grilled prawns, creamy pasta dishes, and rich mushroom risotto. Serve it at 10–12°C to show both its freshness and texture, and decanting is not necessary, though giving it a little time in the glass can help open up the aromas.
