Tasting Notes
Deep ruby with garnet reflections, the 2014 vintage opens with an expressive nose of ripe blackberries, red plum and black cherry, layered with cedar, tobacco, vanilla, leather, dried herbs and subtle earthy tones. On the palate, it is powerful yet remarkably poised, combining concentrated fruit with fresh acidity, refined tannins and a long, savoury finish. The wine’s depth continues to unfold with time in the glass, revealing further notes of spice, cocoa and mature forest floor. Vega Sicilia Único is made for extended cellaring and should continue to develop gracefully for decades under suitable conditions. Production
The vineyards lie on the elevated, continental landscapes of Ribera del Duero, where poor soils, marked day-night temperature variation and a long growing season help produce grapes with concentration, freshness and structure. Grapes are carefully selected and harvested by hand before traditional vinification. Único is known for its unusually long maturation, combining time in oak with extended bottle ageing prior to release; this patient approach integrates the wine’s fruit, tannins and oak while creating its characteristic complexity and longevity.

Food & Serving
Serve slightly below room temperature, around 16–18°C, to preserve freshness and precision. Decant for approximately two to three hours before serving, or pour carefully off any sediment if the bottle has been cellared for many years. Its structure and savoury depth pair beautifully with roast lamb, grilled or braised beef, venison, Iberian cured meats and mature hard cheeses.
