Vallone Graticciaia 2020

Vallone Graticciaia 2020 is one of Salento’s most distinctive red wines, made from 100% Negroamaro and crafted only in the best vintages. Its signature style comes from a traditional grape-drying method that concentrates flavor and gives the wine its deep, expressive character. An iconic IGT from Apulia, it reflects both the warmth of the region and the heritage of old-vine Negroamaro.

Tasting Notes
Expect a deep, intense ruby color with garnet reflections as the wine evolves. The bouquet is rich and layered, with ripe dark fruit, dried plum, sweet spice, balsamic hints, and subtle notes from oak aging. On the palate it is full-bodied and velvety, with concentrated fruit, fine tannins, and a long, warming finish that balances power with elegance. Thanks to its structure and concentration, Graticciaia has excellent aging potential and can continue to develop complexity over many years, gaining more tertiary notes, polish, and depth in bottle.

Production
The Negroamaro grapes come from old vines, around 70 to 80 years of age, planted on the Tenuta Flaminio estate in Salento, where the soils are calcareous and clay-rich. The Mediterranean climate, with sunny days and sea breezes, allows the grapes to be hand-harvested in mid to late September and naturally dried on racks at Castel Serranova for up to a month, depending on the weather. Vinification begins in mid-autumn, followed by around two years of maturation in steel and a further year in Allier and Nevers oak barrels.

Food & Serving
This is a wine to enjoy with rich, flavorful dishes such as braised beef, roast lamb, game, mature cheeses, and hearty pasta with meat sauces. It should be served slightly below room temperature, ideally around 18°C, and will benefit from decanting for at least one hour before serving to help open up its layered aromas and soften the structure.

Graticciaia has become one of the estate’s most celebrated labels and a benchmark IGT wine for the region. Over the years, it has earned major critical recognition, including 5 Grappoli Bibenda, 3 Stelle Veronelli, and 4 Viti Vitae AIS, confirming its status as one of the standout wines of southern Italy.
