Description

Valiano Chianti Classico 2023 is an organic Tuscan red blending Sangiovese and Merlot, combining the region’s signature structure with a rounded, approachable style. Made at Fattoria di Valiano in Castelnuovo Berardenga, it reflects the Chianti Classico tradition symbolised by the appellation’s historic Black Rooster.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby in colour, it opens with expressive aromas of violet and forest fruits, accented by delicate notes of vanilla and cinnamon. The palate is full and warm, with balanced fruit, velvety tannins and a soft, persistent finish.

Production
The grapes come from Valiano’s vineyards in Castelnuovo Berardenga, near Siena, at 200–300 metres above sea level. North-east-facing slopes and well-drained, stony calcareous soils encourage even ripening and help shape the wine’s concentration and structure. Hand-harvested grapes are destemmed and gently pressed, then fermented in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks with around 15 days of skin maceration and regular pump-overs. The wine is aged in barrels for nine months to soften the tannins and bring the structure into balance.

Food & Serving
Serve at around 16–18°C. It pairs well with charcuterie, game dishes and pappardelle with wild boar ragù. Open shortly before serving; a brief decant can help the wine’s aromas unfold, though extended aeration is not necessary.
