Crafted mainly from Nerello Mascalese with a touch of Nerello Cappuccio, it captures the elegance, mineral tension, and bright aromatic profile that set great Etna reds apart from more powerful southern Italian styles.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a translucent ruby color with garnet reflections, hinting at its finesse rather than sheer weight. The nose is expressive and layered, with red cherry, wild strawberry, rose petal, dried herbs, volcanic ash, and subtle spice, all unfolding with air. On the palate, it is fresh and finely structured, with lively acidity, silky tannins, and a savory mineral edge that gives the wine real definition. The fruit is pure and red-toned, supported by earth, smoke, and a whisper of licorice; while approachable in youth, it has the balance and complexity to age gracefully for several years, gaining depth and tertiary nuance.

Production
San Lorenzo is a high-altitude cru on the northern slopes of Mount Etna, where volcanic soils, significant day-night temperature swings, and old vines contribute to the wine’s intense aromatic profile and energetic structure. The grapes are typically harvested by hand to preserve fruit quality and allow careful selection in the vineyard. Vinification is carried out with a focus on expressing site and purity, using gentle extraction and élevage that supports the wine’s texture and finesse without overshadowing its volcanic character.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent partner for roasted poultry, mushroom risotto, grilled tuna, lamb chops, and Sicilian dishes with eggplant, tomato, or herbs. Serve it slightly cool, around 16–18°C, to highlight its freshness and aromatic detail. Decanting for 30–60 minutes is recommended if opened young, especially to allow the wine’s floral and savory notes to fully emerge.
