Stauning Danish Whisky Rye 48%

Stauning Rye is a distinctive Danish rye whisky bottled at 48% ABV. Made by Stauning Whisky in West Jutland, it combines the spicy character of rye with the richness and depth of a small-batch, craft-produced whisky.

Aroma & Palate
The nose is inviting and grain-forward, with aromas of freshly baked rye bread, warm spice, vanilla and light toasted oak. On the palate, rye’s characteristic peppery spice is balanced by sweet notes of caramel, honey and vanilla, with hints of dried fruit and toasted cereal. The finish is warming and lingering, leaving a pleasant combination of spice, oak and gentle sweetness.

Distillation & Maturation
Stauning Rye is made using locally sourced Danish grain, including rye that is traditionally floor malted at the distillery. It is distilled in copper pot stills and matured in oak casks, allowing the whisky to develop its rounded texture, aromatic complexity and balance between sweet oak and spicy rye character.

Serving Suggestions
Enjoy Stauning Rye neat at room temperature to appreciate its full range of aromas, or serve it over a large ice cube for a softer, slower-drinking expression. It also works particularly well in classic rye whisky cocktails such as an Old Fashioned or Manhattan, where its bold spice and 48% strength provide a robust base.

Distillery
Founded in 2005 by a group of friends, Stauning Whisky is located near the Danish west coast and has become one of Denmark’s leading craft whisky producers. The distillery combines traditional methods—including floor malting and direct-fired stills—with a distinctly local approach, producing whisky from Danish ingredients in small batches.
