Solarce Tinto 2021 from DO Rioja is a polished red blend that brings together Rioja’s classic depth with a fresh, fruit-driven style. Built around Tempranillo and lifted by Garnacha, Mazuelo, Graciano, and Maturana, it offers both regional authenticity and a distinctive, layered character. It comes from Casa La Rad, a producer rooted in one of the estate’s most prized vineyards, reflecting the tradition and care that define the property.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Solarce Tinto shows an intense ruby-red colour with violet reflections, hinting at its youthful energy. The nose opens with ripe red berries and blackcurrant, then unfolds into licorice, spice, and the subtle complexity developed during traditional cellar ageing. On the palate, it is full-bodied and silky, with a dark-fruited profile and a long, lingering finish marked by fresh fruit. The balance of structure and softness gives it immediate appeal, while its blend and concentration suggest it can continue to evolve gracefully over the next few years.

Production
Solarce Tinto is made from grapes grown in Rioja at Casa La Rad, where the vineyard known as La Rad is considered one of the estate’s finest sites. The estate covers 110 hectares, with the first vines planted in 1960, and the property also includes olive groves, underscoring its broader agricultural heritage. The wine is crafted from 65% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha, and 15% Mazuelo, Graciano, and Maturana, combining traditional Rioja varieties in a classic yet expressive style.

Food & Serving
This is a versatile Rioja red that pairs well with roast lamb, grilled beef, braised dishes, cured meats, and aged Manchego. It also works beautifully with mushroom-based dishes and rich Mediterranean fare. Serve at 16–18°C and decant for around 30 minutes if possible to allow the wine’s aromas and texture to open up fully.
