Simonsig Kaapse Vonkel Cap Classique Brut Rosé is a lively South African sparkling wine that brings elegance, freshness, and character to the glass. Crafted in the traditional method and rooted in Simonsig’s pioneering role in Cap Classique production, it combines vibrant red-fruit charm with refined lees complexity.

Tasting Notes
Pale salmon in colour, this rosé has an inviting, delicate appearance that hints at its freshness and finesse. The nose opens with bright aromas of raspberry and cranberry, lifted by subtle floral notes that add extra charm and delicacy. On the palate, it is crisp and expressive, with flavours of strawberry sorbet and mixed red berries supported by a biscuit- and brioche-like complexity from extended time on the lees. The finish is refreshing and refined, with enough structure to suggest good drinking now, while retaining a little extra depth for short-term cellaring.

Production
This Cap Classique is made from hand-harvested grapes, with the fruit gently pressed to preserve purity and freshness. The blend is led by Pinot Noir, supported by Pinotage and a small portion of Pinot Meunier, then aged for at least 15 months in Simonsig’s cool, dark cellars to build texture and yeasty complexity. The style reflects both careful vineyard work and the traditional bottle-fermentation method that defines classic sparkling wine.

Food & Serving
Serve well chilled, ideally at 6–8°C, to preserve the wine’s freshness and fine mousse. It is an excellent match for smoked salmon, fresh oysters, sushi, tempura prawns, goat’s cheese, or strawberry-based desserts, and does not require decanting.
