Description
Seguin-Manuel’s Puligny-Montrachet Les Reuchaux 2023 is a beautifully expressive white Burgundy that captures the finesse and purity for which Puligny is so highly prized. Crafted by Thibaut Marion in a transparent, terroir-driven style, it balances generous Chardonnay texture with the lifted mineral elegance that has helped Puligny-Montrachet edge ahead of its famous neighbors in recent years.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Chardonnay shows a bright, polished appearance with a sense of depth and refinement. The nose is precise and inviting, leading with ripe orchard fruit, subtle citrus tones, and a refined mineral edge that gives the wine a distinctly Puligny signature.
On the palate, it is round, supple, and mature in expression, yet always animated by freshness and a graceful, almost airy elegance. The texture is generous, but the finish turns focused and mineral, giving the wine definition and length. It should drink well now for its purity and balance, while also having the structure to develop additional complexity over the next few years.
Production
The grapes come from the Les Reuchaux parcel in the northern part of Puligny-Montrachet, a site that contributes to the wine’s classic combination of richness, tension, and elegance. After harvest, the wine was aged for 14 months sur lie in traditional barriques, a élevage that adds texture and subtle oak complexity while preserving the clarity of the fruit.
Food & Serving
Serve at around 14°C, ideally in a relatively quiet setting where the wine can be appreciated on its own. If pairing with food, think light seafood dishes, shellfish, or delicate fish preparations that complement the wine’s freshness and mineral profile without overpowering its subtle complexity.
