Rocche Costamagna Barbera d’Alba 2024 is a still red wine that showcases Barbera’s vibrant fruit and naturally lively acidity, with a polished, rounded feel. Made in La Morra, it brings together expressive cherry aromas, soft tannins and a measured influence of French oak. The estate has been making wine in the heart of the Langhe since 1841.
Tasting Notes
The nose opens with fresh marasca cherry, joined by hints of blackcurrant, pomegranate and subtle spice. On the palate, the wine is fresh and rounded, with Barbera’s agreeable acidity balanced by soft tannins and a lingering finish. The available information does not specify its appearance.
Production
The grapes come from vineyards in La Morra, where calcareous clay soils contribute structure and a persistent finish. Yields are kept to 5,000 kg per hectare to encourage aromatic concentration, and the grapes are harvested by hand in late September. After harvest, the must undergoes temperature-controlled skin maceration for five to six days, followed by 12 months in French barrels and a further six months of rest. The wine is described as having a cellaring potential of five to ten years.
Food & Serving
Enjoy it with flavourful risottos, red meat or a selection of aged charcuterie. Serve at 16–18°C and allow it to breathe for around an hour before serving.
