Description
Ricasoli 1141 Bolgheri Rosso La Volpe e L'Uva 2023 is a polished Tuscan red that brings together the classic Bordeaux-style grapes of Bolgheri in a fresh, modern expression. Crafted by one of Italy’s most historic wine names, it combines ripe fruit, structure, and elegance in a style that captures the coastal character of Tuscany.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep ruby colour with youthful vibrancy. The nose leans toward blackcurrant, dark cherry, plum, and Mediterranean herbs, often with subtle notes of spice, cedar, and gentle floral undertones.
On the palate, this blend is medium- to full-bodied with a supple texture, ripe dark fruit, and well-integrated tannins. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc bring freshness and backbone, while Merlot adds roundness and Petit Verdot contributes colour and depth. The finish is balanced and persistent, with good drinking pleasure now and the potential to develop further complexity over the next few years.
Production
Produced in Bolgheri, on Tuscany’s coastal strip known for warm days, cooling sea breezes, and well-drained soils that favour ripe yet refined reds. The blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot is typically harvested at optimal ripeness to preserve both aromatic lift and structure, then vinified with careful extraction to maintain freshness and balance.
Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with grilled beef, roasted lamb, game birds, pasta with rich meat sauces, and aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if you want to open up the aromatics and soften the tannins.
