Realm The Tempest 2019

Realm The Tempest 2019 is a polished Napa Valley red that blends richness, freshness, and real precision. Built mainly on Merlot with a Cabernet Sauvignon component, it draws fruit from some of the region’s cooler, highly regarded sites, giving the wine both generous depth and a lifted, elegant profile. A modern Napa cuvée with strong critical acclaim, it reflects Realm’s reputation for crafting expressive wines with serious pedigree.

Tasting Notes
The wine shows a deep garnet color in the glass. Aromas open with ripe plum, blackberry, and blackcurrant, layered with notes of coffee, licorice, and dark chocolate. On the palate, it is full-bodied and beautifully balanced, with silky tannins and a fresh line of acidity that keeps the wine moving with energy. The finish is long and refined, and the wine has the structure to age gracefully through 2042.

Production
The Tempest 2019 is sourced from cooler Napa Valley vineyards, including Farella in Coombsville, Blair, Orchard, and Cabernet Sauvignon from Houyi Vineyard on Pritchard Hill. These sites contribute fruit with natural freshness, definition, and concentration, helping to shape the wine’s layered style. Production is limited, with around 10,000 bottles made, and the wine was crafted for both immediate enjoyment and long-term cellaring.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs well with grilled ribeye, braised short ribs, roast lamb, duck breast, and dishes with mushrooms or truffle. It also works nicely with aged hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for about 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the aromatics and structure to open fully.
