Realm The Absurd 2018 is a rare, ultra-premium Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon built from the winery’s very best lots and crafted with no fixed formula beyond taste and quality. Produced in tiny quantities and famously awarded multiple 100-point scores from Robert M. Parker, it stands as one of Realm’s most sought-after and talked-about wines.

Tasting Notes
The 2018 vintage pours a deep garnet-purple in the glass. On the nose, it opens with enticing notes of baked plums, crème de cassis, boysenberry, candied violets, and a fragrant touch of Indian spice. The palate is full-bodied and richly layered, delivering a decadent core of black fruit preserve and exotic spice, wrapped in velvety tannins and a beautifully integrated freshness. The finish is long, aromatic, and expansive, with the structure and concentration to evolve gracefully over many years.

Production
The Absurd is made in a highly selective, almost artistic style, with Realm starting from a blank canvas each vintage and blending only the finest fruit available. While the exact vineyard sources can vary, the wine is rooted in Napa Valley’s exceptional terroir, where ripe fruit, freshness, and depth can be achieved in perfect balance. Production is extremely limited, under 250 cases annually, making it one of the most exclusive wines in the Realm portfolio.

Food & Serving
This is a wine for rich, flavorful dishes such as grilled ribeye, braised short ribs, lamb chops, or venison, as well as aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours to allow the aromatics and texture to fully open.
