Realm Farella 2018

Realm Farella 2018 is a beautifully composed single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from one of Napa Valley’s cooler and most distinctive sites. Made entirely from Farella Vineyard fruit, it combines concentration, elegance, and a strong sense of place, with graphite, florals, and mineral precision that have made it a standout in Realm’s portfolio. Realm has produced Farella Cabernet since 2003, and from 2018 onward became the long-term steward of this historic estate.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Farella 2018 shows deep color and the polished intensity expected of top Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa. The bouquet unfolds with layers of ripe black and red fruit, floral notes, graphite, spice, and a lifted mineral edge, all framed by subtle French oak. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet remarkably refined, with vibrant acidity, firm tannins, and a sleek, classical structure. The wine feels concentrated and layered, with a long, elegant finish that hints at excellent aging potential over the next decade or more.

Production
The wine is sourced exclusively from Farella Vineyard, located at the base of the Vaca Mountains in one of the cooler parts of Napa Valley. The 25-hectare vineyard is divided into multiple blocks set across slopes between 300 and 500 feet, creating a range of microclimates and soil profiles, especially in the stonier, gravel-rich hillside sites that contribute to the wine’s structure and minerality. The 2018 vintage was matured for 16 months in 75% new French oak barrels, enhancing complexity without overpowering the fruit.

Food & Serving
This Cabernet Sauvignon pairs beautifully with grilled ribeye, roast lamb, braised short ribs, or other richly flavored beef dishes. It also works well with aged hard cheeses and mushroom-based dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C and decant for 1–2 hours if possible to let the wine fully open up.
