Quintodecimo Taurasi Vigna Grande Cerzito 2021

Quintodecimo Taurasi Vigna Grande Cerzito 2021 is a prestigious Taurasi DOCG Riserva made from Aglianico, one of Campania’s most distinctive red varieties. Produced from a single vineyard in Mirabella Eclano, it combines the grape’s depth and power with remarkable freshness, mineral precision and silky tannins. This is a refined expression of Taurasi with excellent potential for further development in bottle.

Tasting Notes
Deep and concentrated in appearance, the wine opens with expressive aromas of ripe cherry and plum, followed by layers of dark chocolate, mint, incense and subtle smoky nuances. On the palate, it is full-bodied and powerful, yet finely balanced by vibrant freshness and polished, silk-textured tannins. A mineral character adds definition, while the long, persistent finish reveals further dark-fruit and spicy notes. With its concentration, structure and careful oak maturation, Vigna Grande Cerzito is well suited to extended cellaring. It can be enjoyed now after decanting, but should develop greater complexity and harmony over the coming years.

Production
The grapes come from a one-hectare vineyard in Mirabella Eclano, situated at more than 450 metres above sea level with a favourable south-facing exposure. The deep volcanic soils, composed largely of ash and pumice, are exceptionally well drained and contribute a pronounced mineral character to the wine. The Aglianico grapes are harvested and selected by hand, then traditionally fermented at controlled temperature for approximately three weeks to encourage the extraction of colour, flavour and polyphenols. The wine is subsequently matured in new oak barrels for approximately 18 to 24 months.

Food & Serving
Serve at around 16–18°C with roasted or grilled red meat, braised beef, game and other richly flavoured dishes. Its depth also makes it an excellent match for aged and mature cheeses. Decant for at least one to two hours before serving to soften the tannins and allow the wine’s layers of fruit, spice and mineral character to emerge.

Quintodecimo was founded in Mirabella Eclano in 2001 by Luigi Moio, whose work has helped showcase the quality and individuality of Campania’s native grape varieties. The estate focuses on precise, terroir-driven wines, with Vigna Grande Cerzito representing one of its most exclusive Taurasi expressions. Its high-altitude volcanic vineyard, meticulous manual selection and maturation in new oak create a wine of notable concentration, elegance and ageing potential.
