Prunotto Langhe Nebbiolo Occhetti 2024

Prunotto’s Langhe Nebbiolo Occhetti 2024 is a polished expression of Nebbiolo from the hills around Alba, balancing fragrant red-fruit character with the grape’s signature structure. From the Occhetti vineyards, it reflects the distinctive sandy and clay-limestone soils of the area; Prunotto’s story in Alba dates back to 1923.

Tasting Notes
It shows a medium-intensity ruby-red colour with delicate garnet hues. The nose is clearly defined, with aromas of raspberry, rose and liquorice.

Production
The Nebbiolo grapes come from the Occhetti area near Alba, where vineyards sit at around 250 metres above sea level with south- and southwest-facing exposure. Shallow marine sands alternate with gravel and clay-limestone sediments, contributing finesse and structure. Harvest takes place in early October. After destemming and crushing, the must ferments under temperature control with around ten days of skin maceration. Malolactic fermentation is completed before winter, followed by 12 months in oak casks and barriques and a further four months of bottle ageing.

Food & Serving
Enjoy it with filled pasta, meat-based main courses or a selection of cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C; a short spell in a decanter can help open up its aromas. The wine’s specific ageing potential is not stated.

Founded in Alba in 1923 by Alfredo Prunotto, the winery has a long-standing connection to the wines of the Langhe. Occhetti is presented as one of Prunotto’s notable Nebbiolo bottlings, made under the supervision of oenologist Gianluca Torrengo and labelled Langhe DOC.
