Description

Pingus is one of Ribera del Duero’s most sought-after wines, celebrated for its precision, depth, and remarkable finesse. Crafted by Dominio de Pingus from old-vine Tempranillo, it has become a modern icon thanks to Peter Sisseck’s meticulous vineyard work and a style that marries power with elegance.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Pingus 2013 shows a refined, expressive profile with a beautifully perfumed nose. Aromas of ripe dark fruit are joined by subtle spice, floral notes, and a restrained use of oak that never overshadows the wine’s natural character. On the palate, it is surprisingly approachable and graceful for such a prestigious wine, with fresh acidity, very fine tannins, and a harmonious, balanced feel. The finish is long and composed, suggesting excellent aging potential over many years, even though the wine already shows impressive poise now.

Production
Pingus 2013 comes from two historic vineyards, San Cristóbal and Barroso, both planted in 1929 in Castilla León. These old vines, shaped by massale selections and a demanding vintage, produced fruit with exceptional balance and homogeneity. The wine was aged in used barriques, allowing the purity of the Tempranillo to shine without obvious oak influence.

Food & Serving
This is a wine that pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as roast lamb, grilled beef, game, or rich mushroom-based plates. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for about 1–2 hours to let its aromas and structure fully open.

Producer
Dominio de Pingus was founded by Danish winemaker Peter Sisseck and has become one of the benchmark producers in Spain. Based in Ribera del Duero, the winery is known for obsessive vineyard care, very limited production, and wines that consistently rank among the region’s most acclaimed and collectible.
