Tasting Notes
In the glass, Galatrona 2022 shows a dense, dark ruby color that hints at its concentration and richness. The nose is layered and expressive, offering dark blackberry, black cherry, and violet, followed by graphite, spice, and subtle oak nuances. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and deeply flavored, but beautifully controlled, with silky tannins, vibrant acidity, and a mineral core that keeps everything focused. The finish is long and precise, with lingering notes of mocha, cedar, and ripe dark fruit. While already impressive now, it has the structure and balance to age gracefully for many years.

Production
Galatrona comes from a single historic vineyard planted on the hills of Val d’Arno di Sopra, where stony clay soils rich in shale and limestone help create grapes with concentration, freshness, and natural balance. The fruit is hand-harvested in small parcels at optimal ripeness, then destemmed and fermented with native yeasts in concrete tanks before undergoing a gentle maceration. The wine is then aged for around 18 months in French barriques, a significant proportion of which are new, adding polish and complexity without overwhelming the fruit.

Food & Serving
This is a wine that shines alongside rich, flavorful dishes such as grilled ribeye, roast lamb, braised short ribs, duck breast, or truffle-infused pasta. It also pairs beautifully with aged hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C and consider decanting for at least 1–2 hours if drinking young, to let the wine open fully and show its aromatic depth and supple texture.
