Pagodes de Cos is the refined second wine of Cos d’Estournel, offering a more approachable expression of one of Saint-Estèphe’s most celebrated estates. Crafted in Bordeaux’s northern Médoc, it captures the depth, structure, and elegance that have made the domaine a benchmark in the region.

Tasting Notes
Expect a deep ruby color with youthful purple reflections. On the nose, it typically shows ripe blackcurrant, plum, cedar, graphite, and a touch of spice and violet. The palate is supple yet structured, with dark berry fruit, fine tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, savory finish. While immediately approachable, it should also develop nicely over the next several years, gaining extra complexity with bottle age.

Production
Sourced from vineyards in Saint-Estèphe, where gravel and clay soils help ripen Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with both power and freshness. The fruit is usually harvested parcel by parcel at optimal maturity, then vinified with careful plot selection and temperature-controlled fermentation to preserve fruit purity and precision. The wine is aged in oak barrels to integrate texture and add subtle complexity.

Food & Serving
Excellent with roast lamb, entrecôte, duck breast, mushroom dishes, and hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C. Decanting for 30–60 minutes is recommended, especially in its youth, to help the aromatics open and soften the tannins.
