Nino Negri Valtellina Sfursat Cinquestelle 2022 is the estate’s celebrated flagship wine, crafted only in the very best vintages from a strict selection of top-quality Nebbiolo grapes. Sourced from some of the most respected sites in Valtellina Superiore, it captures the elegance, intensity, and mountain character that have made Sfursat one of Lombardy’s most distinctive wines.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby in the glass, it shows impressive concentration and definition. The nose is refined and expressive, with lifted red berries, dried cherries, violet, spice, and a subtle savoury complexity that reflects the traditional appassimento process. On the palate, it is powerful yet composed, with firm but polished tannins, bright acidity, and layers of ripe cherry, plum, spice, and mineral nuance. The long, natural drying of the grapes brings extra depth and persistence, while the 2022 vintage should offer excellent cellaring potential for many years.

Production
Made from 100% hand-harvested Nebbiolo from the most acclaimed areas of Valtellina Superiore, the grapes are naturally dried for around three months before vinification. The wine is then made using traditional red-wine methods with extended maceration, a process that builds structure, aromatics, and the concentrated style for which Sfursat is known.

Food & Serving
This is a superb match for braised beef, game, roasted lamb, rich mushroom dishes, and aged cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for at least 1 hour to let the wine fully open and show its aromatic complexity.
