Description
Château Mouton Rothschild 2015 is one of Pauillac’s most coveted wines, combining power, polish, and remarkable precision. As a First Growth from one of Bordeaux’s most storied estates, it captures the depth of the Left Bank terroir while reflecting the exceptional warmth and balance of the 2015 vintage.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows an opaque, deep ruby colour with impressive concentration. The nose is layered and refined, offering cassis, blackcurrant, graphite, cedar, violets, and subtle hints of spice, cocoa, and toasted oak.
On the palate, it is full-bodied and seamless, with dense dark fruit, fine-grained tannins, and a long, composed finish. The wine has both freshness and structure, giving it the balance to age beautifully for decades, with further complexity expected to emerge over 20–40 years or more.
Production
Produced in Pauillac on Bordeaux’s Left Bank, the wine benefits from deep gravel soils that encourage Cabernet Sauvignon to thrive, bringing structure, fragrance, and remarkable ageing potential. The 2015 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot was carefully harvested and vinified to preserve purity, concentration, and elegance, with meticulous sorting and precise élevage in oak to refine the tannins and enhance complexity.
Food & Serving
This is a superb match for prime rib, filet of beef, lamb, game, or truffle-rich dishes, as well as hard aged cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for at least 1–2 hours if drinking young to help the wine open and show its full aromatic range.
Producer
Château Mouton Rothschild is one of Bordeaux’s most famous estates and has been part of the legend of Pauillac for generations. Elevated to First Growth status in 1973, it is celebrated not only for the quality and consistency of its wines, but also for its artistic labels and its important role in shaping modern Bordeaux’s reputation worldwide.
