Why shop with us?
Mousse Fils Champagne Rosé Eugène Extra Brut is a distinctive rosé Champagne built around the estate’s signature Meunier expression, lifted by Pinot Noir and an unusually characterful reserve red wine component. With its Extra Brut style and thoughtful use of old barrels, it offers a refined, terroir-driven interpretation of rosé Champagne that stands apart for its depth and personality.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a delicate rosé hue with a fine, persistent mousse. The nose is expressive yet nuanced, with aromas that can be expected to lean toward red berries, citrus peel, subtle spice, and gentle brioche notes from the reserve wines and aging.
The palate is likely to be fresh and precise, with Pinot Meunier bringing roundness, red-fruited character, and a supple texture, while the Extra Brut dosage keeps the wine focused and dry. The old-barrel-aged red wine component adds depth, tension, and a faint oxidative complexity, making this a rosé with both immediate charm and enough structure to develop well over the next few years.
Production
This Champagne is based on two permanent reserves: a white wine called Eugène and a red wine made from a single Meunier parcel in Cuisles. The red wine is vinified and aged in barrels that are at least eight years old, a choice made to encourage controlled oxidation and greater aromatic complexity. The Meunier grapes undergo long, cold pre-fermentation macerations, helping to preserve freshness while extracting the grape’s distinctive character and giving the finished rosé its strong identity.
Food & Serving
This Extra Brut rosé works beautifully with seafood, sushi, sashimi, salmon, duck breast, charcuterie, or poultry with a light berry glaze. Serve well chilled at around 8–10°C, and no decanting is needed; if anything, a few minutes in the glass will help it open up and reveal more of its layered aromas.
Producer
Mousse Fils is a family estate in Champagne with a strong focus on Pinot Meunier, a grape that has become central to the house’s identity. Based in the Marne Valley area, the producer is known for highlighting the finesse, texture, and aromatic complexity that Meunier can deliver, particularly through parcel-based wines and careful reserve blending. Its reputation rests on thoughtful, terroir-conscious winemaking and a style that combines precision with individuality.
