Tasting Notes
In the glass, Montrose 2018 typically shows a deep, насыщенный ruby-garnet color with exceptional concentration. The nose opens with blackcurrant, blackberry, cedar, graphite and violet, followed by darker notes of tobacco, spice and fresh earth. On the palate, it is full-bodied and tightly woven, with firm but polished tannins, vivid freshness and layers of ripe black fruit, mineral nuance and subtle oak. The finish is long and composed, suggesting excellent aging potential over many years, and likely decades in a strong cellar.

Production
Montrose is rooted in Saint-Estèphe, where gravelly soils with clay and sand provide ideal conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The estate’s position close to the Gironde helps moderate temperatures, allowing the grapes to achieve ripeness while retaining freshness and structure. Harvesting is typically done parcel by parcel to capture each block at optimal maturity, followed by careful sorting and traditional Bordeaux vinification with temperature-controlled fermentation and aging in oak barrels. The result is a wine shaped by precision, extraction control and a strong emphasis on balance.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with rich dishes such as roasted lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, venison and slow-braised short ribs. It also works well with aged hard cheeses and truffle-based dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for 1–2 hours if drinking young to help soften the tannins and раскрыть the aromatic detail.
