Tasting Notes
In the glass, this is typically deep ruby to nearly opaque, with impressive density and youthful intensity. The nose is layered and refined, opening with blackcurrant, blackberry, plum, and violet, then unfolding into cedar, graphite, tobacco, spice, and earthy mineral tones. The palate is full-bodied and firmly structured, with Cabernet Sauvignon driving the core of dark fruit, freshness, and mineral tension, supported by ripe Merlot and accents of spice from the smaller blending components. The finish is long, polished, and energetic, with excellent balance and the kind of concentration that suggests a very long life ahead. This is a wine built for cellaring and should continue to develop gracefully for decades.

Production
Montrose comes from gravelly, well-drained vineyard soils overlooking the Gironde estuary in Saint-Estèphe, a terroir that helps Cabernet Sauvignon achieve full ripeness while preserving freshness and structure. The grapes are typically harvested parcel by parcel to capture optimal maturity, with careful selection in the vineyard and cellar. Vinification is carried out with an emphasis on precision and extraction control, followed by aging in French oak barrels to refine the tannins and integrate the blend.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, beef tenderloin, entrecôte, venison, or duck breast, as well as earthy dishes such as mushroom risotto or truffle-accented cuisine. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for 1–2 hours if drinking young to help open the aromatics and soften the structure.
