Description
Marchesi di Barolo Barbaresco 2022 is a refined expression of Nebbiolo from one of Piedmont’s most respected historic estates. It brings together the elegance and structure that define Barbaresco, with the pedigree and tradition of a producer that has helped shape the region’s reputation worldwide.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Barbaresco shows a bright garnet hue, typical of Nebbiolo, with a graceful clarity. The nose is finely layered, opening with red cherry, rose petal, and wild berry notes, followed by subtle hints of spice, dried herbs, and earthy complexity.
On the palate, it is precise and structured, with firm yet polished tannins, lively acidity, and a savory, mineral edge that gives the wine lift and definition. The finish is long and elegant, with lingering red fruit and floral tones. While already expressive in its youth, it has the balance and framework to develop beautifully with a few years of cellaring.
Production
Sourced from the Barbaresco area in Piedmont, where the Nebbiolo grape benefits from calcareous marl soils and a temperate continental climate, the wine reflects both finesse and depth. The grapes are typically harvested by hand at optimal ripeness, then vinified with careful maceration and controlled fermentation to preserve the variety’s aromatic precision and natural structure. Maturation is carried out to enhance complexity while respecting the wine’s elegant, terroir-driven character.
Food & Serving
This Barbaresco is a natural match for roasted game, truffle risotto, braised beef, mushroom dishes, and aged cheeses. Serve it at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if opening young, to allow the aromas and tannins to fully open.
Producer
Marchesi di Barolo is one of the most iconic names in Piedmont, with a long history closely tied to the evolution of Barolo and the wider prestige of Nebbiolo-based wines. The estate is known for combining tradition with quality-focused winemaking, and it holds an important place in the region’s heritage thanks to its consistent role as an ambassador for classic Piedmontese wine.
