Description

Mâcon-Villages Au Poirier Chanin by Pierre Boisson is a finely crafted white Burgundy that highlights the freshness and clarity for which the Mâconnais is loved. From a respected family name in Burgundy, this 2021 bottling offers a vivid, terroir-driven expression of Chardonnay with both charm and precision.

Tasting Notes
Expect a pale golden hue with bright, youthful reflections in the glass. The nose is likely to show crisp orchard fruit, citrus, white flowers, and a subtle mineral lift, while the palate should be rounded yet energetic, balancing ripe stone fruit with fresh acidity and a clean, saline finish. As a 2021 white Burgundy, it is best enjoyed for its vibrancy in the near term, though a few years of cellaring may bring added texture and complexity. Its balance and structure should allow it to evolve gracefully, gaining more nuance with time.

Production
Sourced from Mâconnais vineyards in southern Burgundy, the wine reflects a cooler-climate Chardonnay style shaped by limestone and clay soils that lend freshness and minerality. Pierre Boisson is known for a careful, low-intervention approach, with hand-harvested grapes and gentle vinification designed to preserve purity of fruit and the character of the site.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with shellfish, grilled fish, roasted chicken, creamy pasta, and mild goat cheese. Serve chilled at around 10–12°C, and decanting is generally not necessary, although a short period in the glass can help open its aromas.

Producer
Boisson Pierre is a Burgundy producer associated with precise, expressive wines that emphasize vineyard character and balance. The Boisson name carries strong recognition in the region, and the domaine’s reputation is built on thoughtful farming and a restrained cellar style that lets the quality of the fruit and terroir come through clearly.

Big wine for a very sexy price. This has pretty much everything you would expect from a big meursault. Body, concentration and very positive flinty, matchstick- like reduction. Serve it blind and expect the wildest guesses. Thank me later.
