Description

Château Lynch-Bages is one of Pauillac’s most admired names, combining grand-classic Bordeaux structure with the generous, approachable style that has made it a favourite among collectors and enthusiasts alike. As a 5ème Grand Cru Classé from the famed 1855 classification, the 2023 vintage carries both heritage and prestige, offering the depth, precision, and Cabernet-driven character that define this historic estate.

Tasting Notes
The wine is expected to show a deep, saturated colour in the glass, with an expressive bouquet of blackcurrant, dark cherry, cedar, graphite, and subtle floral tones, framed by toasted oak and spice. On the palate, Lynch-Bages typically delivers firm tannins, concentrated dark fruit, savoury minerality, and a long, structured finish that balances power with finesse. The 2023 vintage should have excellent aging potential, with the balance and concentration to evolve gracefully over many years. With time in bottle, the wine is likely to gain complexity, developing notes of tobacco, leather, earthy nuances, and further integration of its oak and tannin profile.

Production
Produced in Pauillac on the left bank of Bordeaux, Lynch-Bages benefits from classic gravelly soils that provide excellent drainage and help Cabernet Sauvignon reach full ripeness while preserving freshness and precision. The estate’s terroir is ideal for crafting deeply structured, long-lived wines, typically with a blend led by Cabernet Sauvignon and supported by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot depending on the vintage. Vinification is carried out with a focus on careful parcel selection and precise extraction to retain purity, concentration, and balance.

Food & Serving
This is a superb match for refined, flavourful dishes such as ribeye steak, roast lamb, beef Wellington, game, or duck breast with a rich sauce. It also pairs beautifully with aged hard cheeses and truffle-based dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for at least 1–2 hours if enjoying young, or longer if you want to soften the structure and bring out the wine’s aromatic detail.

Producer
Château Lynch-Bages has a long and distinguished history in Pauillac, becoming one of the most recognised estates in Bordeaux for its consistency and character. The property has earned a strong reputation for producing wines that are both powerful and approachable, with a style that reflects the strength of its terroir and the ambition of its winemaking. Over the years, Lynch-Bages has remained a benchmark for the commune and a highly respected name among Bordeaux collectors worldwide.
