Description

Lungarotti Brut Rosè is a refined sparkling rosé from the rolling hills of Umbria, Italy, crafted in the traditional method for depth and elegance. Delicate yet structured, it marries the freshness of Italian terroir with the finesse of classic sparkling wine techniques. As one of Umbria’s flagship rosé sparklers, it showcases how this central Italian region can rival more famous sparkling appellations in character and quality.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Lungarotti Brut Rosè shows a soft, luminous onion-skin to pale salmon-pink hue, with a fine and persistent perlage that forms an elegant, creamy mousse. The nose is inviting and complex, offering notes of wild strawberries, pomegranate, and red currants, layered with hints of rose petals, citrus zest, fresh bread crust, and a subtle mineral undertone. On the palate, it is dry, crisp, and beautifully balanced, with vibrant acidity framing flavors of small red berries, blood orange, and white peach, supported by a gentle creaminess from extended lees aging. The finish is long, clean, and delicately savory, with a chalky, saline edge that keeps it refreshing and food-friendly. Enjoy it now for its vibrant fruit and energy; over the next 2–3 years, it will gain a touch more softness and complexity while retaining its freshness.

Production
Sourced from hillside vineyards in Umbria around Lungarotti’s home territory, the grapes benefit from a mix of clay and limestone soils, good diurnal range, and breezy conditions that help preserve acidity—ideal for high-quality sparkling wine. Grapes are typically hand-harvested at optimal ripeness for sparkling production, with an emphasis on freshness and balance rather than high alcohol. After a gentle pressing, the base wine is fermented at controlled temperatures in stainless steel to preserve aromatics, then undergoes a secondary fermentation in the bottle (Metodo Classico / traditional method). The wine rests on its lees for an extended period, adding texture, complexity, and subtle pastry notes before disgorgement and a carefully judged dosage to maintain a dry, Brut style.

Food & Serving
Lungarotti Brut Rosè is a versatile sparkling wine that shines as an aperitif and at the table. Pair it with antipasti, charcuterie, sushi, prawn or salmon carpaccio, seafood risotto, grilled octopus, or light pasta dishes with tomato and basil. It also complements soft and semi-aged cheeses, as well as dishes featuring poultry or veal in delicate sauces. Serve well-chilled at around 6–8°C (43–46°F) to highlight its freshness and fine bubbles. A brief 10–15 minute rest in the glass is enough for the aromas to open up; decanting is not necessary for this style.

Producer
Lungarotti is one of Umbria’s benchmark producers, credited with helping to put the region—and particularly the town of Torgiano—on the map of quality Italian wine. Founded by Giorgio Lungarotti in the mid-20th century, the estate pioneered a more ambitious, terroir-driven vision for Umbrian wines, long before the region became widely recognized. Today, the family-run winery is known for its commitment to sustainable viticulture, research, and quality across a diverse range of wines, from structured reds to elegant sparklers like this Brut Rosè. Lungarotti’s role in elevating Torgiano to DOC and later DOCG status, along with its consistent critical acclaim, has cemented its reputation as a reference point for central Italian wine.
