Lis Neris La Vila 2024 is a still white wine made entirely from Friulano, the grape historically known as Sauvignon Vert, and offers a focused expression of Friuli Isonzo. Named in tribute to the area’s local traditions, it brings together ripe fruit, floral lift and the variety’s characteristic almond note.
Tasting Notes
Bright, intense straw yellow in the glass, it opens with aromas of yellow peach and wild flowers, followed by delicate almond notes. The palate is full and enveloping, balanced by fresh acidity and a persistent, harmonious finish.
Its freshness and structure suggest it can develop over the near term, though no specific cellaring window is provided.
Production
The grapes come from the Feudi vineyard in Romans, on a gravelly limestone plateau at around 23 metres above sea level. The site’s soils and position encourage slow, even ripening, helping the fruit build aromatic concentration. Vines are trained using the Guyot system, with planting density managed to control yields; the harvesting method is not specified. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel, followed by 11 months of maturation in a combination of tanks and casks, with frequent bâtonnage on the fine lees. A further four months of ageing allows the wine to settle and harmonise.
Food & Serving
Serve lightly chilled, around 10–12°C, with grilled fish, shellfish, risotto or fresh cheeses; its almond character also suits asparagus and herb-led dishes. A brief rest in the glass should be sufficient—decanting is not necessary.
Producer
Lis Neris is based in San Lorenzo, on a plateau between the Isonzo River and the Slovenian border, and is recognised here for its expressive wines from Friuli Isonzo. La Vila is made with the expertise of oenologist Alvaro Pecorari and reflects the estate’s emphasis on local grape varieties and the character of its gravelly limestone terroir. Further details about the winery’s history or specific awards are not provided.
