Lingua Franca, Sisters Chardonnay, 2021

Lingua Franca Sisters Chardonnay 2021 is a small-production Oregon Chardonnay built from fruit sourced exclusively from two vineyards in Eola-Amity Hills. Hand-selected barrels and careful winemaking by Thomas Savre give the wine its refined, Burgundian style, while the name honors Larry Stone’s mother and aunt — the “sisters” behind the cuvée’s inspiration.

Tasting Notes
Pale gold in the glass, this Chardonnay opens with a lifted, elegant bouquet of ripe tropical fruit, citrus, and orchard fruit, layered with subtle baking spice and a flinty, mineral edge. The aromas feel fresh and precise rather than heavy, giving the wine a sense of transparency and finesse. On the palate, juicy fruit and bright acidity weave together beautifully, creating a wine that is both generous and refreshing. Notes of stone fruit, lemon zest, and a touch of spice are balanced by a clean, chalky mineral line. It already shows impressive harmony, but its structure suggests it can continue to develop gracefully over the next several years.

Production
The grapes come solely from two vineyards in Oregon’s Eola-Amity Hills, a cool-climate area shaped by marine influence and the region’s signature volcanic soils. Fruit is harvested with great care, and only the best barrels are selected for the Sisters cuvée, which is then bottled in very limited quantities. The result is a Chardonnay focused on precision, texture, and site expression.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for poached white fish such as turbot or halibut, especially with beurre blanc, where the wine’s freshness and depth can shine. It also pairs well with roast chicken, shellfish, lobster, and creamy vegetable dishes. Serve slightly chilled, around 10–12°C, and decanting is not necessary, though a brief aeration can help open the wine if served young.
