Les Pieds sur Terre by Valentin Morel is a выразive Jura Savagnin that shows a fresher, more precise side of this historic grape. Crafted in the ouillé style, it keeps the barrels topped up to preserve brightness, purity, and varietal character—an approach that has become increasingly admired in the region.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this white typically shows a pale straw to golden hue with a lively, polished appearance. The nose is fragrant and layered, with notes of citrus zest, green apple, white flowers, fresh herbs, and the subtle nutty, saline edge that makes Savagnin so distinctive. On the palate, it is dry, focused, and textured, balancing vibrant acidity with a gently waxy, mineral core. Expect flavours of lemon peel, pear, alpine herbs, and a savoury, chalky finish. Thanks to its structure and energy, it can develop beautifully over time, gaining complexity with bottle age.

Production
Produced in Jura, a cool-climate region known for its limestone and marl soils, this Savagnin is made in the ouillé style, meaning the barrels are regularly topped up during élevage to prevent oxidation. That approach helps retain freshness and transparency, while careful vinification and ageing in wood add subtle depth without overwhelming the grape’s natural character.

Food & Serving
Serve chilled at around 10–12°C. It works wonderfully with Comté, roast chicken, creamy mushroom dishes, grilled fish, and poultry with herbs; its acidity and savoury character also make it a great match for lightly spiced Asian cuisine. Decanting is usually not essential, but a short aeration can help if the wine is showing tight on opening.
