Description
Leonardo da Vinci Monnalisa Romagna Sangiovese Superiore 2023 is a lively expression of one of Italy’s most beloved native grapes, offering a modern, approachable take on classic Sangiovese from Emilia-Romagna. Crafted by Cantine Leonardo da Vinci, it brings together regional character, freshness, and easy elegance in a wine named with a nod to one of the world’s most iconic artistic figures.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a bright ruby-red colour with youthful highlights. The nose is fresh and inviting, with red cherry, wild berries, and subtle floral and spicy nuances that give it charm and immediate appeal.
On the palate, expect a medium-bodied red with juicy red fruit, refreshing acidity, and gentle tannins that keep it smooth and food-friendly. Its balance and freshness make it enjoyable on release, though it can also hold for a short period if stored well.
Production
Made from Sangiovese grown in Romagna, where the climate and soils help preserve the grape’s natural brightness and structure, this wine reflects the region’s warm Mediterranean influence with enough freshness to keep the style vibrant. Harvesting and vinification are carried out to emphasize purity of fruit and balance, with a straightforward, careful approach that supports the variety’s expressive character.
Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for Italian classics such as pasta with tomato-based sauces, pizza, grilled chicken, and roasted vegetables, as well as cured meats and mild hard cheeses. Serve slightly cool, around 16–18°C, and decanting is not necessary, though a brief airing can help the aromas open up.
