Description

Latour 2015 is a generous, expressive vintage from one of Bordeaux’s most revered First Growth estates. In the glass, it immediately shows its pedigree, combining depth, polish and precision in a way only great Pauillac can. This is a Latour that is strikingly approachable in its youth, while still carrying the structure and finesse that have defined the château’s wines for centuries.

Tasting Notes
In appearance, the 2015 Latour is deep, opaque ruby with a vivid, almost inky core that hints at concentration and longevity. The nose is rich and layered, opening with dark berry and blackcurrant fruit before evolving into notes of cassis, espresso, warm clay, graphite and pencil shavings, lifted by a subtle floral, potpourri-like complexity. On the palate, this is medium to full-bodied, supple and remarkably elegant for Latour. A velvety, almost caressing attack leads into a sweet-fruited, finely layered mid-palate, where ripe blackcurrant, plum and blackberry are framed by refined tannins and discreet oak. Hints of cocoa, tobacco and earth emerge with air, adding savor and dimension. The finish is juicy and persistent rather than stern, making this a more immediately giving Latour than some more austere vintages. While the more classic 2014 may ultimately prove longer-lived, the 2015 offers both excellent early-drinking pleasure and the capacity to evolve gracefully over the next 20–30 years under proper cellaring.

Production
Château Latour sits on some of Pauillac’s most prized terroir in the Médoc, with deep gravel soils over a clay subsoil that naturally restricts vigor and promotes powerful yet finely structured Cabernet-based wines. The fruit is harvested by hand, parcel by parcel, allowing for meticulous selection in the vineyard and on sorting tables at the winery. Vinification typically takes place in temperature-controlled vats, with separate vinification of individual plots to preserve the character of each terroir before blending. The grand vin is then aged in a high proportion of new French oak barriques, where it gains additional texture, aromatic complexity and the subtle cedar and spice notes that complement its intense fruit and firm but polished tannic backbone.

Food & Serving
The 2015 Latour is a natural partner for refined, protein-rich dishes that can stand up to its structure and depth: think roast lamb with rosemary, dry-aged ribeye, venison, or classic French preparations like beef Wellington or tournedos Rossini. It also pairs beautifully with earthy, truffle-inflected dishes, wild mushrooms, or mature hard cheeses such as Comté or aged Gouda. Serve at 16–18°C (60–64°F) to highlight its aromatic complexity without emphasizing alcohol or tannin. Decanting for 1–2 hours in its youth helps the wine open and soften; as it gains bottle age, a gentle decant just before serving will be sufficient to remove sediment and allow the bouquet to fully unfold.

Producer
Château Latour is one of Bordeaux’s legendary First Growths, located at the southern end of Pauillac and recognized since the 1855 Classification as a benchmark for Cabernet Sauvignon–based wines. With a history dating back to at least the 14th century, Latour has long been celebrated for producing wines of remarkable concentration, structure and longevity, often among the most powerful and ageworthy in the Médoc. Its meticulously tended vineyards, anchored by the famed Enclos surrounding the château, and a relentless focus on precision and selection in the cellar have earned Latour a reputation as one of the world’s foremost red wine estates, with many vintages regarded as reference points for both the region and the broader world of fine wine.
