Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep golden color. The nose opens with classic Laphroaig smoke, seaweed, and briny coastal air, followed by notes of vanilla, charred oak, and citrus peel. On the palate, it is full-bodied and powerful, delivering earthy peat, pepper, dark chocolate, and a touch of sweetness that balances the smoke. The finish is long, dry, and warming, with lingering ash, salt, and oak spice. While immediately enjoyable for peat lovers, it also has the complexity and structure to develop beautifully in the glass over time.

Produced on the remote Isle of Islay, Laphroaig Lore reflects the distillery’s traditional methods and the island’s coastal terroir. Best enjoyed neat, with a splash of water to open up its layers of smoke and sweetness. It pairs well with smoked salmon, grilled lamb, mature cheddar, or dark chocolate desserts. Serve at room temperature in a tulip-shaped glass, and decanting is not necessary, though allowing it to rest in the glass for a few minutes will enhance the aromatics.
