Tasting Notes
In the glass, Lagrein typically shows a deep ruby to dark garnet colour, often with impressive intensity for its class. The aroma profile leans toward ripe dark berries, black cherry, plum, and hints of violet, with subtle earthy and spicy nuances that add complexity. On the palate, it is usually medium- to full-bodied with firm but approachable tannins, lively acidity, and a core of juicy dark fruit. The clay- and sand-rich soils help give the wine depth and balance, while the warm exposure of the vineyards supports ripe flavour development. While enjoyable young for its freshness and fruit, Lagrein can also gain harmony over a few years in bottle.

Production
La Vis Lagrein 2025 comes from the slopes of Lavis in Trentino Alto Adige, specifically from the warmest, best-exposed sites with the most sunshine. The vineyards are planted on deep soils of clay and sandy sediments, moderately fertile and well suited to producing a balanced, expressive red wine. The grape itself originated in nearby South Tyrol and has become naturalised in Trentino over decades, giving the wine a regional identity shaped by both tradition and terroir.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for grilled meats, roast lamb, game, mushroom dishes, and cured or aged cheeses. It also works well with hearty pasta dishes and traditional Alpine cuisine. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decanting for 30 minutes can help soften the structure and open up the aromatics, especially in its youth.
