La Spinetta Chardonnay Lidia 2023

La Spinetta Lidia 2023 is a limited-production, organic Chardonnay from the hills of Mango in Piemonte, offering a distinctive Italian take on the variety. Its high-altitude origins and careful ageing in French oak give it a balance of fresh fruit, mineral character and creamy texture.

Tasting Notes
The nose brings together apple, pear and pineapple with hints of honey and almond. On the palate, citrus and white-flower notes meet lively mineral freshness, followed by a more pronounced spicy, stony character and a long, creamy finish. Its structure and acidity give it the potential to develop in bottle, with the fruit and oak likely to become more integrated over time. The producer’s suggested ageing period is not specified.

Production
The Chardonnay comes from hillside vineyards in Mango, around 500 metres above sea level, where the elevation contributes to aromatic clarity and freshness. La Spinetta follows an organic and sustainability-focused approach; specific harvesting methods are not provided. Fermentation takes place in used French oak barrels, followed by 18 months of barrel ageing and a further six months in bottle.
