Tasting Notes
In the glass, La Landonne typically shows a deep, inky colour, reflecting its concentration and structure. The nose is layered and expressive, with dark berries, black olive, pepper, smoked meat, violet, and mineral notes unfolding over time. On the palate, it is dense and commanding, yet refined, with ripe black fruit, savoury spice, firm tannins, and a long, mineral-driven finish. This is a wine built for the cellar, with excellent ageing potential that can easily reward patience for many years.

Production
La Landonne comes from a steep, south-facing single vineyard in Côte-Rôtie, where schist and iron-rich soils contribute to the wine’s power, structure, and mineral backbone. The vines are harvested with great care, often by hand due to the challenging slope of the site. Fermentation and ageing are carried out with meticulous attention to detail, typically in oak, to preserve the wine’s intensity while adding refinement and complexity.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with richly flavoured dishes such as grilled lamb, venison, beef ribeye, game birds, and slow-braised short ribs. It also works well with mushroom-based dishes and hard, aged cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant several hours in advance if drinking young to allow the aromas and structure to open fully.
